Department 56 - Dairy Beef Feeder

Dairy Beef Feeders.

Youth who are planning to Exhibit Diary Beef Feeders at the Columbiana County Junior Fair MUST meet the following requirements to Exhibit:
  1. Be a youth in good standing in the Youth Organization they are a member. Meet all requirements to have a completed project with the Youth Organization. (4-H- Audrey Dimmerling Dimmerling.13@osu.edu, FFA – refer to FFA Advisor, Grange- refer to Advisor, Boy/Girl Scout- refer to Club Leader, etc) Each youth organization may have their own requirements.
  2. Declare your Junior Fair Exhibition Project by March 1st. (4-H Members register projects in 4-H online 2.0; FFA Members register with their advisor who will contact junior fair; all others need to contact the Jr Fair Directors) The OSU Extension office will run a report from 4-H online 2.0 to give to the Jr Fair Directors)
  3. Attend one (1) Quality Assurance Training
  4. Attend one (1) Clinic offered/approved by the Junior Fair Committees
  5. Register and Tag in by the date given by the Columbiana County Fair Board
  6. Attend Book Grading

Note to exhibitors.

Tagging will remain on Saturday, March 25th.  We encourage all 4-H exhibitors to enroll in 4-H online and declare projects as soon as you are able, even though the deadline to enroll is now April 1st for THIS YEAR. 

FFA exhibitors still need to be enrolled in projects through their advisors by March 1st.  

All dairy beef feeder calves will be tagged and accepted as long as these deadlines are met. Committee members will contact families the week of March 19th with approximate times for tagging.

Animal Identification.

Below is a help sheet for exhibitors on Animal Identification due May 1st of each year. Please make sure you are using the correct sheet for 4-h or FFA.

Project Book Guidelines.

There are four showmanship divisions (age as of January 1st, 2023):
Bantam: 8-10 years of age
​Junior: 11-12 years of age
Intermediate: 13-15 years of age
Senior: 16-18 years of age

These are guidelines of pages in the Beef Project and Record Book that we feel are important to be completed for the Dairy Beef Feeder project:

Project Book Grading Day is Saturday, July 15th, 2023
in the Beef Complex at the fairgrounds 9:00am-12:00pm.
Dairy Beef Feeder Skillathon will be offered.
​It is encouraged but not mandatory.

2023 Premium Book.

Premium Policy.

All premium moneys will be paid out as follows:
 
  • Jr. Fair: Sunday (the last day of fair) in Coliseum Office from   2:00 p.m.– 6:00 p.m.
  • Open Class: Sunday (the last day of fair) in Fair Administration Office from 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
  • Open Class Arts and Crafts: in Arts and Crafts Building during exhibit pick-up times
 
Any premium monies not picked up during the above designated times will be available Monday through Friday (the week after the fair) in Fair Administration Building from 9:00 a.m.-12 p.m. (noon).
 
All Premium money will be issued in checks.
Please cash checks ASAP; checks are void after 90 days
 
***No checks will be mailed
 
All checks not cashed within the 90-day time period will be considered a donation by the payee to the Columbiana County Fair.
 

Join Our Committee.

The Columbiana County Junior Fair is successful because of the many volunteers who assist behind the scenes.  Various committees work to plan, organize and coordinate educational programs for the youth involved in the the Junior Fair
