Dairy.
Youth who are planning to Exhibit Dairy at the Columbiana County Junior Fair MUST meet the following requirements to Exhibit:
- Be a youth in good standing in the Youth Organization they are a member. Meet all requirements to have a completed project with the Youth Organization. (4-H- Audrey Dimmerling Dimmerling.13@osu.edu, FFA – refer to FFA Advisor, Grange- refer to Advisor, Boy/Girl Scout- refer to Club Leader, etc) Each youth organization may have their own requirements.
- Declare your Junior Fair Exhibition Project by March 1st. (4-H Members register projects in 4-H online 2.0; FFA Members register projects with their advisor; all others need to contact the Jr Fair Directors) The OSU Extension office will run a report from 4-H online 2.0 to give to the Jr Fair Directors)
- Attend one (1) Quality Assurance Training
- Attend one (1) Clinic offered/approved by the Junior Fair Committees
- Register their Dairy Classes by the date given by the Columbiana County Fair Board
- Attend Book Grading
- Skillathon - REQUIRED for CHEESE COW PARTICIPANTS
NOTE: Any Dairy Project Member (Projects 122 & 126) can participate in skillathon

Animal Identification
Below is a help sheet for exhibitors on Animal Identification due May 1st of each year.
Fair Entry.
For official registration to the Columbiana County Junior Fair, exhibitors must register for their classes by July 1st each year. The junior fair is it’s own fair on fair entry, so please make sure you are entering in the JUNIOR FAIR.
Note: If you are entering in open class you will have to fill out entries via the senior fair, fair entry.

Book Guidelines.
Exhibitors only need one project book for all of your dairy projects. Some of the project book requires the exhibitor to go online and complete. In addition to project books, all members are required to complete a questionnaire, found below. These questionnaires are due at the same time as project books. For additional help, please visit the Dairy Resources found online.

* Page 50 does require you to go online to to a QA quiz. It does require at least a 70%. You can retake as needed. Please PRINT your results and staple them in your book.

Skillathon.
Skillathon is a required component of the Dairy Promotion Project.
- Junior fair participants will have the opportunity to practice for skillathon with committee members during the May 13th clinic at the Bricker Farm at 1 PM.
- July 15, 2023 is book check and OFFICIAL SKILLATHON at the fairgrounds from 9 AM - 12 PM
- Make-Up date for skillaton is July 20, 2023 at 7 PM at the fairgrounds. MUST BE PREAPPROVED TO ATTEND THE MAKE-UP DATE
- During Skillathon, only the participants will be allowed through. Family and friends may wait by the parlor until the participant is done.
Dairy Promotion Project.
The Junior Fair Dairy Committee is introducing the Junior Fair Dairy Promotion Project (formerly known as the Cheese Cow Project)
Youth that participate in the Dairy Promotion Project will sell during the Columbiana County Jr Fair Cheese Sale.
In order to participate in the Dairy Promotion Cheese Sale, you must complete the following 8 requirements:
All baskets at the sale will contain the same amount of cheese and product.

- Participant In Person Registration - MANDATORY
- Attend 1 Dairy Clinic
- Attend 1 Quality Assurance Training
- Create a Dairy Promotion Poster
- Participate in Showmanship
- Attend and Complete Dairy Skillathon
- Complete 4-H or FFA project book and Questionnaire provided by the Dairy Committee
- Show your Cow or Heifer at the Columbiana County Junior Fair
- If on official test, DHI papers
All baskets at the sale will contain the same amount of cheese and product.

All premium moneys will be paid out as follows:
Any premium monies not picked up during the above designated times will be available Monday through Friday (the week after the fair) in Fair Administration Building from 9:00 a.m.-12 p.m. (noon).
All Premium money will be issued in checks.
Please cash checks ASAP; checks are void after 90 days
***No checks will be mailed
All checks not cashed within the 90-day time period will be considered a donation by the payee to the Columbiana County Fair.
- Jr. Fair: Sunday (the last day of fair) in Coliseum Office from 2:00 p.m.– 6:00 p.m.
- Open Class: Sunday (the last day of fair) in Fair Administration Office from 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
- Open Class Arts and Crafts: in Arts and Crafts Building during exhibit pick-up times
